Elastofibroma Dorsi: Clinicopathological Analysis of 76 Cases
BACKGROUND We aimed to investigate the epidemiological, clinical, paraclinical, and treatment aspects of elastofibroma dorsi through a retrospective study of 76 patients who underwent surgery between January 2008 and December 2012 in our department. METHODS Our study is retrospective between January 2008 and December 2012. We admitted 79 patients with a subscapular mass, and only 76 patients ...
متن کاملElastofibroma dorsi: three cases of personal experience.
Elastofibroma dorsi is a rare, slow growing, soft tissue lesion, which occurs mainly in elderly women, typical located in the infrascapular region. This lesion is characterized by a poorly defined solid mass of fibro-elastic and fatty tissue, enlarging into intermuscular spaces. Elastofibroma may simulate an aggressive behaviour, and differential diagnosis with malignant tumors is sometimes dif...
متن کامل[Retrospective analysis of 6 cases of elastofibroma dorsi].
Elastofibroma dorsi is a benign lesion of fibroelastic tissue. It often presents bilaterally, is frequently localized to the subscapular region, and is more common in middle-aged and elderly women. The pathogenesis is still unclear but it has been suggested to involve reactive, degenerative, or neoplastic processes. We present a retrospective study of the findings from 6 patients with elastofib...
متن کاملElastofibroma dorsi: A report on 6 cases.
Elastofibromas are slow growing fibroblastic proliferations, which occur mainly in elderly women. They are typically located in the right subscapular region and are usually asymptomatic. The characteristic findings in ultrasonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging usually allow to make the diagnosis. We report six cases of elastofibroma dorsi, the clinical presentation and ...
متن کاملElastofibroma dorsi.
We present our experience on 6 patients (4 females, 2 males) with elastofibroma dorsi. The diagnosis was based on imaging studies along with clinical examination. Surgery was decided due to the symptomatic nature of the tumors along with the consent and willingness of the patients. All patients had an uncomplicated course and long term follow up did not show any disease recurrence.
